Smoked Meat

Mushroom Omelette
Again for my birthday, Christine told me I could choose any place I want to go to. I wanted to go to Centre Street Deli for the longestttt time. They are famous for their smoked meat :) Our server was soo nice, she gave us samples before we ordered. As good as it was, it can't compare to Schwartz and its more expensive here too!! Though their fresh cut fries were pretty good.

Meat

Veggie
This is a deli/pizza bar. I decided to take Sab there for her birthday lunch, since it was close to her work. There are always long lineups, but it moves pretty quickly. I love their sandwiches here. I honestly can't remember what we ordered. I really liked the veggie one.. I loved the colors. The meat.. I cant remember. I know I didn't like it as much because it was a bit too salty for me. They have a variety of sandwiches, pizza, pastas and salads.

Baby shrimps and egg sandwich

Tuna sandwich

Strawberry chocolate mousse and Apple flan
I haven't seen Allen for months!! We decided to meet up today since it was his day off. He came to pick me up at school and we were limited to the places within the vicinity of my school. I decided on Fabian's Cafe. Its this tiny homey place by Ellesmere and Markham Rd. So many old people and I guess locals eating there. It had this homey feel with many many desserts. The sandwiches were so small and overpriced, but the desserts totally filled us up. Maybe it was also because I wanted to try two different kinds.
The shrimp sandwich was definitely not worth the price, but the tuna was very yummy. It was very healthy and very good.
The strawberry mousse cake was not bad, but the apple flan was a disappointment. I wanted more apple flavour.. but it was lacking a bit.
Happy belated Allen! :)

After reading much about the pulled pork sandwiches, I decided to go check out Black Camel with Sab. The place was very small and only offered a couple of sandwiches. I didn't realize they came with kaisers instead of loaf bread. I think I prefer slices of bread over kaisers.

Pulled Pork Shoulder Like our brisket, our Pulled-Pork sandwich takes five days of preparation. The pork shoulder is given a rub of our selected seasonings, and allowed to marinate for three days before being slow-cooked for 12 hours. Once the meat has rested for 24 hours, it is pulled and prepared.
We had ours with the Black Camel BBQ sauce and caramelized onions. I found the pork a bit on the dry side and the meat was overfilling.

Slow Roasted Beef Brisket Our briskets take five days to prepare. They are given a dry rub and then allowed to marinate for three days, slowly absorbing the flavours of the custom-made seasoning. Once they have finished marinating, they are slow-cooked for 12 hours, and then allowed to rest for 24 hours until the meat is (as Toronto Life has described it) "impossibly tender".
The beef brisket was less dry and more tasty. I think ut of the two I enjoyed the beef brisket more.

For Chris' birthday, we decided to pamper ourselves a bit. For lunch, we decided to drop by this sandwich place that I have read many good things okay. What I love about this place is the fresh ingredients and the healthiness.
A sandwich with a spread of your choice and three additional toppings + a side salad : $6.48
It's actually a bit pricey, but very delicious.

Picture of the booth.. its more like a foodcourt type of store. There aren't any chairs, but tables for you to stand and eat. The picture on the right is the two sandwiches. We decided to share the two sandwiches so we can try both. :)

Roast Beef with Avocado & Cipotle Mayo, Eggplant and Roasted Sweet Peppers on Whole Wheat Bread
I really like this one. I'm glad I went with the roast beef, though I would like to try the salmon if I ever go back. The roast beef is exactly like the meat my mom makes, though this one was a bit too chewy for my liking.

Grilled Chicken Breast with Sundried Tomato, Zucchini and Portobello Mushrooms on Whole Wheat Bread
I love portobello mushrooms and zucchinis are good too! Though I found the chicken a bit too dry.
