cafe green tea

I met up with Sonia before she started her full time work in the real world. :) We went to J-Town for some Japanese food. I had the Udon with Tempura. The noodles didn't taste like they were defrosted. It was okay, not sure if it's worth that price.
But Sonia's curry tasted good... though probably from the packaged curry they were selling in the supermarket there.
I want to go back to try the curry hehe :)

pixel 8 lounge

Pixel 8; Spicy Ramen

Spicy Ramen ingredients

Everyone had plans on Canada except Will and I. How sad. :( We decided to go watch Fireworks at Milne Park in Markham and have dinner at Pixel 8 before going. My sister went there and said the ramen was pretty good - sorry DDD, I had ramen without you... i'll go with you next time.
The spicy ramen was not mild.. it was sooooo spicy. My mouth felt like it was on fire. The noodles tasted very fresh and chewy, at least I thought so.
Apparently Simon from UTSC worked there.. but I didn't see him until I was leaving.
I think I like their noodles more than Takebashi. Though, I have to go back to try something less spicy to compare.

pho hung

Martin's Grilled Chicken, Spring Roll and Vegetable Vermicelli

My Pork, Spring Roll, some other piece of pork with Vegetable Vermicelli

Before Martin left Toronto, we decided to go for more vietnamese food :) since its his favouriteeeeeeee! We tried Pho Hung, since we had Anh Dao the other day. We both wanted the bun (vermicelli). I wanted to see which place I liked better.
I prefer Anh Dao more for their buns. The texture of the pork and the texture of the fried spring roll was muchh better, in my opinion, at Anh Dao.
Thank you Martin for lunch! :)

anh dao

Geoff's Special Famous Beef Noodle Soup; Martin's Porkchop, Shredded Pork and Egg Cake Rice Dish

My BBQ Pork and Imperial Roll Vermicellli

Before going on our UofT Tour, Geoff, Martin and I decided to grab some Vietnamese food - their favouriteee cuisine! We decided to go to Anh Dao.
Whenever I eat Pho (the vermicelli or rice), I always get this garlic aftertaste in my mouth that stays there for the rest of the day. It won't go away even when I brush my teeth, eat gum or use mouthwash. It's really annoying.. but after eating this meal, there was no aftertaste! yay!
In my opinion, I prefer Anh Dao over Pho Hung. I'm going to go back to try the noodle soup. :)

My sister's noodles and my salmon/sushi bento

Sushi and Salmon

I met up with my sister after my interview for lunch. We had to do a quick lunch, for she only had an hour and I had to go to the library to research. We decided to go for sushi on Bloor Street. I haven't read anything about the restaurant, but on the door it had the Toronto Life signs. Overall, I think it was pricey and not super omg I have to go back type of place. hehehehe
I much prefer my big yummy inexpensive spider rolls at Bongs, which my sister still hasn't tried.

hi shanghai restaurant

I went for lunch with my parents, eldest sister and my grandma today. My dad wanted to go to the new Shanghai restaurant across from Market Village. We arrived shortly after 12:30pm and the lady told us there was a 30+ mins wait. Normally.. my dad would not wait, but because he wanted to try it we decided to wait. I think the wait was close to 45 mins. Anyhow, I didnt take any pictures. We went with the popular dishes the Shanghai fried noodles, Shanghai steamed mini bun with pork, spicy beef noodle soup, and some dessert that i dont know the name.

I wanted my sticky rice, but the waitress put in the wrong order so I never got it. :(

Everyone who worked there speaked mandarin which gave it some kind of shanghai feel. hehe

The fried noodles were really thick and chewy, which was good. The beef in the spicy noodle soup was very soft and yummy. And the skin of the xiao long bao was really thin. Overall, I think I like this place better than Asian Legend. But then again thoses arent my favourite dishes at Asian Legend anyways. And I probably wont go back here to wait another 45 minutes. Though for the noodle dishes.. I find the prices very average, not too expensive :)

mei nung noodle house

Jer's homemade beef noodle soup

My homemade beef noodles without soup

stinky tofu?

I love this noodle house! One of my favourite noodle places, except this time there was so much oil and msg.. or maybe it was the tofu. I love Asian Legend's chunky beef noodles, but I think this place has become my favourite. I love the texture of the noodles.. I wasnt able to take any upclose of the noodles because I was starvinggg.
If you look closely you can see the sauce in my bowl.. which makes up for the soup. :)
